The myGrid e-Science Layer has the following objectives:

  • To isolate the end user (and client software) from the detailed operations and interactions of the core myGrid services.

  • To overlay distinctive myGrid elements (such as ProvenanceData) on non-myGrid services (such as "legacy" Web Services)

  • To support a diverse range of user interfaces and access devices

Within myGrid, the WP-6 team will deliver a prototype software realization of the e-Science Layer, and a number of demonstration examples across a range of contexts of use. This prototype will be engineered for breadth and inspiration rather than production quality within a much narrower scope of use.

Currently, the e-Science Layer is presented as a Gateway service, and is demonstrated by a browser-accessible Portal interface and a text-based command-line client. These components are described in IF3WP6doc.pdf.
