4. Brief round up of progress against plans and any comments on roadmap.
Carole has sent her comments to Nick; the software deliverable basis is not adequate and should be spread throughout.
CG will forward specific comments to Nick.
WP8 – Nick
Work on roadmap and build processing. 1st draft of new website should be ready soon.
WP1 – Peter Rice
Format of transformation service (as discussed at AG meeting) should not be problematic. Designing type system using ACD approach. Looking through Lion Bioscience and SRS work. In discussions with Anil regarding Graves’ disease biology. Transformations of EMBOSS and SRS focus. This will enable Graves’ disease work to function quickly. Some reorganisation of what is already here is required. Martin is focusing on
BioMoby and LSID at this time. A letter of intent to produce standards for I3C will be forthcoming.
WP2 – Luc
Service directory is making good progress. A release of JAR file for clients to use is possible for next week. Clients for workflow enactment engine to use as a web service are forthcoming. This is currently stored in a Southampton CVS. It will be extended and then files will be submitted into the Manchester CVS repository next week. A name is required for this. Rich will do necessary admin.
Need to contact WP3 concerning publishing notifications in notification service.
No progress has been made on the framework this week due to Simon’s focus on service directory and his
PhD? viva. We have a meeting to discuss the ACD file tomorrow.
Security – What should be done about this? We need to prioritise. A decision should be made on whether we want to work on this or not. Luc will discuss this issue with IBM, EBI. Anyone who has security requirements should collate these and send them on to Luc who will produce a document. A priority list for myGrid security requirements and the technology required for it needs to be done.
WP3 – Anil and Peter Lee
Work on Grave’s disease workflow: a table up on wiki for the first part of the workflow with comments on implementation. Discussion ensued regarding use of Talisman. Does Talisman fit with rest of myGrid and the general use of the demo? It was noted that at this time Talisman is convenient to use due to the workflow built into it. However the connection with the rest of myGrid is tenuous. CG noted that Talisman could be available as a web service or used as a browser? It was decided that a decision should be made concerning making either ENSEMBL or Talisman visible to myGrid. Tom and Anil will meet at the EBI to discuss this further. A working group meeting will be co-ordinated. A table with a list of services and providers will be done once the Talisman issue has been resolved.
DQP is going well. Simple scenario demonstrating DQP has been achieved. Coverage of the information model and events was noted as having no progress at this time. Savas is working on core Grid Middleware to cut across all grid projects. Currently using myGrid and biology projects in this area. Web service to Grid service investigations.
WP6 – Chris
Kevin is having difficulties with
NetBeans and a suitable paradigm fit, therefore this is in slow progression. Milena has achieved a ‘stand alone’ notification client. This has not been integrated due to the
NetBeans issue. Service directory browser – once views stuff is available, work will start on this again. LSID forms in MIR were noted. No resolver will be provided but expected to look like LSIDs.
WP4 – Nick (for Carole)
Working on Semantic Find Service, to be layered over registry view mechanism. Currently focus on Semantic Web paper. Chris Wroe is now paid on myGrid so we hope for some time from him.
WP5 – Mark
Returned to provenance. Writing up what workflow did and what the intention is for it to do in the future in the context of the information model. Continuing with example workflows to support Graves disease people. This is up on the wiki and comments are welcome.
WP5 – Matthew
Analysis of Graves disease workflows in terms of the workflow enactor. Integration on workflow enactor using Talisman. Consideration of longer term needs for engine. Strategy for re-designing will take some working in the future. Minor upgrades are probable. Darren will send his comments on. Interest in the notion of a looser interpretation of workflows and the feasibility of this.
WP7 – Rob
Newcastle and Sheffield need to meet and discuss the Graves disease scenario. Interfaces should be decided upon and need to talk to users in Newcastle. A complete re-make of PASTA has been achieved. SOAP server interface and code and documentation are complete. This will be uploaded onto wiki. No intention to supply code for builds.
5. Identify any problems, assign as actions to appropriate people
Taken care of in 4.
6. Funding for workflow editor.
To be discussed at next meeting.
7. Any other business.
Next meeting: Tuesday 15th April 2003. 2pm telecon.
