One form of USA is <databaseid>-<accessmethod>:<identifier>
Lists of valid identifiers can be found here. Click on an identifier to get a list of valid access methods.
The following are examples of USAs constructed in this format:

|---|---|
| embl-acc:AL526645 | Look up accession number AL526645 in embl |
| SWISSPROT-des:apolipoprotein | Looks in the description lines of swiss prot entries for the string apolipoprotein. Since the description lines contain (in the case of swissprot) the name of the protein and any synonyms, this USA returns all proteins related by namng to apolipoprotein (eg Apolipoprotein B) |
