Discussions
Shoaib: CI Shell, VBrowser - candidates for integration - need to take them into account when making technology decisions.
Jits: E4 and what it brings - backwards compatibility - plugging into existing projects
Jits: what's the scope for including 3rd party libraries?
Shoaib: things to consider - Deployment, Integration, Building. Responsible re-use.
Jits: as a parallel activity - need to construct the conceptual model that drives the design
Shoaib: difference between the design & conceptual model
Steve: thing to consider in the back of your minds is publications - something to write about - start with a comparison - identify the problems with other workbenches across various platforms - find the problem - propose a hypothesis - e.g. Iteration strategy - equivalence
Shoaib: noticed that when people use taverna they stop and think for long durations - what's going on in their head.
Steve: find issues of other workbench systems - say here's our solution - collections, explicit data input, iteration etc..
New actions
- start initial conceptual model - Jits
- use GEF with a basic model to demonstrate mockup requirements.
- take a look at database query builders.
- allow the user to connect nodes together - via Nodules (primary). Add a iterator visualisation (secondary).
- Consider user scenarios - ONGOING
(Remember to create the next meeting page and copy over the new actions and who's minuting. Do not use copy and paste from these minute, rather update the template
if it needs to be changed. Go to myGrid meetings and do Add Content -> Add Page. Then click "Select a page template to start from" and select the myGrid meeting template. If you create it by clicking from here then the this page will be the parent and the new page won't be listed from myGrid meetings. If that's the case, you can click Edit next to the Location to change the parent to myGrid meetings.)
