- Minuting:
Actions from previous meeting (5 min)
- use GEF with a basic model to demonstrate mockup requirements. ONGOING
- take a look at database query builders. ONGOIGN
- allow the user to connect nodes together - via Nodules (primary). Add a iterator visualisation (secondary). ONGOING
Discussions
Discussed the implication of using GEF Model with SCUFL2 in mind
Alan: - need a unitary mapping of model, entity functions we want
- Service registry & how to interface with warnings, outside world (look at VBrowser)
- how to serialise the graph position (canvas positions)
Jits: need to consider what would be involved in the next mockup
Alan: the last mockup showed RCP with basic current taverna things, how will the next mockup be different?
Jits: start user scenarios - user stories e.g. the user makes a blast wf so the user creates or loads up a file etc...
Alan: will need to consider the things involved at different activities
Rishi: so the permutations of interactions involved
Shoaib: look at tutorials - data centric scenarios
Jits: need the basic tasks needed...
Shoaib: things considered basic such as Offline editing is not easy - need to design for offline usage from the start
Alan: need to design for Errors (presumed if everything works okay)
need to design for Provenance - explicit error ports etc..
Jits: where will these basic things fit in? Eclipse RCP or architecturally?
Rishi: there's are Eclipse RCP + GEF books available (Jits: +ebook)
Shoaib: need to ask Steve about direct manipulation concepts. After the E-Lico review, use the wf as one of the workflows to provide example usage.
New actions
- Work on GEF
- Find Eclipse RCP + GEF book
- Consider user scenarios
- Ask Steve about direct manipulation
(Remember to create the next meeting page and copy over the new actions and who's minuting. Do not use copy and paste from these minute, rather update the template
if it needs to be changed. Go to myGrid meetings and do Add Content -> Add Page. Then click "Select a page template to start from" and select the myGrid meeting template. If you create it by clicking from here then the this page will be the parent and the new page won't be listed from myGrid meetings. If that's the case, you can click Edit next to the Location to change the parent to myGrid meetings.)
