Taverna software development and integration (10 min)

Taverna 2

2.2 released including workbench, command line tool and eUtils service set.

Next Generation Workbench

Rishi is working on adding ports to the top and bottom of components.  Mockup 3 is scheduled for the end of July.

Server

Donal has been doing tagging,  Fixed some REST problems.  Discussing security tomorrow.  Alex to attend.

Platform/OSGifications

David has been looking at the new  API.  Alan has been rationalizing the version numbers for dependencies.  Need to sort out new branch etc. for OSGi work.

ChemTaverna

Peter is using the R interface to CDK until Andreas's plugin becomes more robust.  Peter has been writing example workflows for the chemistry service set.  Could use R/CDK if R functions were exposed directly as Taverna services.

REST & BioCatalogue plugins

The REST service is basically working.  Sergejs will be putting it onto Ben's machine.  There will be a quick BioCatalogue plugin for 2.2.  Sergejs and Alan identified four blocker issues, two of which have been done.  Sergejs will finish today.

Shim Library

The Shim Library is back on the agenda.  The prototype developed by Finn and Mannie is at http://shimtest.taverna.org.uk/

Web 2.0 repositories, registries and portals (10 min)

Bioinformatics and data management (10 min)

Sysmo

Finn has been doing core refactoring.  Delay in funds from the BBSRC.

Ondex

Refactoring has exposed weaknesses in the workflows.  Much greater refactoring is in prospect.

Sage

Peter is having problems accessing the Altora database.  Carole is discussing the next stage at ISMB.

Next Generation Sequencing

Mohammed (Andy Brass's student) is running a workflow on the cow genome.  Andy has discussed what might be done during "Apps for Brass" with Stian and Alan.

e-Lico (5 min)

Rishi is using the Taverna 2.2 archetype.  He can get operator names.  Action on Rishi to contact Simon Jupp/Fisher about parameter types.

Obesity eLabs

Release yesterday including publications and linkage.  Shoaib and Ian are giving a demo of MethodBox in London on 14th.

e-Lab and Taverna integration

Rob had some problems with the REST interface to the Taverna server.  He is now working on the Ruby integration.  Aims for a release of a Ruby Gem with the release of the Taverna server.

Grid activities (5 min)

Code review is ongoing.  User workshop in October.

Research (5 min)

Paolo is working on eScience paper on provenance interoperability.  Had discussion about IMPACT paper.

Paul is writing a text mining paper.

Paul asked if OPM could be used as a basic for workflow conversion.  Paolo said not really.
