Collaboration on Workflow Stability

The fact that a workflow once ran correctly does not mean that it will always run correctly. Several projects are investigating how problems with a workflow can be avoided or detected.

The myGrid team are taking an interest in the work of the CARMEN project at the University of Newcastle. CARMEN is taking the approach of allowing the archiving of the whole context in which the workflow was run.

The University of Southampton and the myGrid team are worked together to specify and develop a Workflow Monitor service that can detect changes in the functionality of the services within a workflow. A prototype Taverna plugin has been developed and the work is being interfaced to myExperiment.

This work is being informed by the BioMoby “pinger” service and the WssDAT tool from Newcastle.
